Reframed

Speaking to the allure of the past through the lens of photography

Reframed speaks to the allure of the past and our longing for tangible, cherishable memory by interweaving the fleeting, candid informality in modern photography with the precious and posed nature of historical portraiture. As a photographer, I’m drawn to the opulent, embossed reliquaries holding tintype or daguerreotype images and the disintegrating photos overflowing from antique store shelves – somewhere among them, my grandmother’s images of her childhood are sifted through by strangers’ hands. This collection is inspired by a dialogue between past and present, posed and candid, decorative and informal, precious and disposable. In a time when it's hard to know what’s real, Reframed explores our relationship with memory and what we leave behind.
